Castlerea Mart – Cattle Prices – 22-09-2022
According to Brendan Egan, prices reached €2,270 for weanling heifers and €1,680 for weanling bulls at Castlerea Mart’s annual show and sale of continental weanlings on Thursday, September 22nd, 2022.
The mart held the special weanling sale in conjunction with its usual general cattle sale.
Mart manager, Brendan Egan, explained that the sale attracted “a fine yard of top-quality stock left local suckler farmers in the region feeling satisfied with a superb trade”.
Bulls soared to €4.48/kg, and weanling heifers peaked at €7.34/kg at Thursday’s sale.

According to Egan, 240 bullocks changed hands at Monday’s (September 19th), sale.
He explained that demand for quality stores increased in recent weeks as customers replace stock.
