Castlerea Mart – Cattle Prices – 18-08-2022
According to Brendan Egan, a large entry of stock came under the hammer at Castlerea Mart on Thursday, August 18th, 2022.
The mart manager reported that there was “a notable” increase in the number of bullocks and heifers presented.
The dry cow ring, with fewer numbers on offer, witnessed prices reach €2,45,0 while breeding stock achieved €2,500 for cows with calves at foot.
The bullock ring saw prices soar to €2,460, while heifers topped out at €1870.
Egan noted: “The lighter stores attracted a lot of farmer interest this week with the quality stores reaching some very fancy prices.”
“The weanling rings noticed excellent demand with a good clearance taking place while the runner ring witnessed lots making up to €1110 for continentals,” he concluded.
