Castlerea Mart – Cattle Prices – 16-03-2023
According to Brendan Egan, over 650 entries came under the hammer at Castlerea Mart on Thursday, March 16th, 2023.
The mart manager reported that “despite a downturn in weather conditions, trade was maintained and, in some cases, improved”.
“The heifer ring saw prices reach €2,160 or €3.51/kg, while weanling rings, with increased numbers on offer, saw bulls peak at €4.22/kg, while heifer weanlings peaked at €4.37/kg, with strong demand for both categories this week.”
“The dry cow ring noticed lots making up to €2,750 while breeding stock made up to €2550.”
“The calf ring noticed increased lots on offer this week with a variance in price depending on quality, with the top lots making up to €530,” Egan added.
