Castlerea Mart Report – Cattle Prices – 09-03-2023
According to Brendan Egan, despite inclement weather conditions, up to 600 animals changed hands at Castlerea Mart on Thursday, March 9th, 2023.
The mart manager reported that trade “remained firm” for all categories of stock presented for sale with forward bullocks to €2070, heifers to €2190 and cull cows to €2460.
Egan remarked: “The weanling rings noted a good clearance on the day with demand and price maintained from last week.”
“The calf ring noticed bigger numbers on offer this week, but a good clearance took place with lots making up to €420.”
Sucklers made up to €2480, while runners topped out at €1190 at Thursday’s general cattle sale.
