Castlerea Mart – cattle prices – 02-12-2021
According to Brendan Egan, trade “held well” especially for quality lots at Castlerea Mart on Thursday, December 2nd, 2021.
The mart manager reported that “good numbers” went under the hammer at the mart’s general cattle sale this week.
“The heifer ring, with similar numbers, on offer saw prices peak at €2.85/kg, with a good clearance taking place.”
“In the weanling rings, bulls peaked at €3.56/kg, while the weanling heifers peaked at €3.40/kg, with strong demand from farmers this week.”
“The dry cow trade remains firm with lots making up to €1870. Runners reported an excellent clearance with farmers and agents anxious for lots this week,” he added.

According to Egan, some 200 bullocks passed through the ring on Monday, November 29th, 2021.
He reported that quality stores peaked at €2.97/kg, while heavier lots reached €1,720.
