Carnew Mart report – cattle prices – 27-08-2021

According to David Quinn, some 130 cull cows, 50 sucklers, and 20 stock bulls were on offer at Carnew Mart on Friday, August 27^th, 2021.

The mart manager reported that all classes of cattle met with a “very steady trade”.

“Heavy beef cows were up €50-€80 per head on the previous week, with a top price of €2,020 for an 896kg Charolais.”

“Store cows met a very lively trade with 100% clearance. We had a clearance sale of aged Hereford and Aberdeen-Angus cows with May-born Charolais calves and running with a Charolais bull.”

“They sold from €1,200 to €1,500 with most cows selling between €1,300 and €1,450. Some nice Limousin cows with shapey calves sold from €1750 to €2120.”

Carnew Mart 28-08-2021:

According to a spokesperson, over 820 cattle and 40 calves passed through the rings at Saturday’s sale (August 28^th).

Quinn reported a “very lively trade throughout with customers active for all types of stock”.

“Beef and forward cattle were in strong demand by feedlots, wholesale and factory agents alike. Northern customers were active for classy stores,” Quinn added.

Heifers:

• 632kg – LM – €1390;
• 590kg – CH – €1500;
• 618kg – LM – €1490;
• 516kg – LM – €1240;
• 390kg – LM – €990;
• 480kg – LM – €1190;
• 440kg – CH – €1110;
• 489kg – LM – €1270.

Bulls:

• A small entry of bulls 80 lots on offer, with the heavier feeding type bulls selling from €2.20- 2.30 per kg. Lighter calves climbed to €2.80/kg.

  • Saturday Ring 2– Calf sale commencing at 11.00am ringside and online.

Cattle may be pre-entered by contacting the office on the week prior to sale day or you can enter by using the mart’s online entry system on its website.
