Carnew Mart – cattle prices – 16-10-2021
According to David Quinn, some 1,285 cattle and 120 calves and runners were on offer at Carnew Mart on Saturday, October 16th, 2021.
The mart manager reported that cattle met a “very lively” trade throughout both from ringside and online buyers.
“Store cattle met a very strong trade from farmers and agents. Many heavy cattle, between 700-800kgs, made €1,000 plus over the kg,” Quinn said.

Heifer prices:
- LM 548kg at €1290;
- Roan 618kg at €1730;
- CH 652kg at €1600;
- LM 666kg at €1640;
- LM 426kg at €1070;
- CH 424kg at €1070;
- CH 726kg at €1760.
Bullock prices:
- CH 612kg at €1540;
- LM 800kg at €1930;
- CH 760kg at €1800;
- LM 806kg at €1890;

- LM 504kg at €1260.
Calf prices:
- Hereford/Angus bulls: €275-€350;
- Continental bulls: €350-€500;
- FR bulls: €85-€200.

Quinn reported that just under 180 cows, 40 sucklers and 90 dairy stock were on offer at the mart on Friday, October 15th.
He reported that a “strong” trade throughout resulted in a full clearance in the dry cow ring. Meanwhile, a clearance sale of cows with calves at foot sold from €1,100-€1,830.
Cull cow prices:
- 1 PT 736kg at €1630;
- BA 750kg at €1650;
- LM 780kg at €1670;
- 1 LM 804kg at €1700;
- LM 764kg at €1580;
- 1 LM 734kg at €1520;
- BB 746kg at €1540.
Dairy sale:
- Freshly-calved heifers – €1500 – €1900
- Sale special of heifers due in February 2022: Stockbull-bred heifers: €1350 – €1500;
- AI-bred heifers sold from €1400 to €1800;
- Bullers: €600-€800;
- Calves: €250 – €400.
