Carnew Mart report – cattle prices – 04-09-2021

According to David Quinn, some 870 cattle, along with 90 calves, were on offer at Carnew Mart on Saturday, September 4^th, 2021.

The mart’s auctioneer reported that all stock met a “very lively trade throughout”.

“Strong cattle were very much in demand and were up €40-60 on the previous week. Coloured cows sold very well with most continental cows selling for over €2/kg and up to €2.45.”

Furthermore, Quinn reported that bullocks “were on fire” with prices up €50-60 on the previous week.

Quinn reported that bulls were “a very lively trade” with farmers “very active” for lighter entries, while feeders were in the market for “any type of heavy bulls”.

Hereford-cross and Angus bulls between 480-520 KG sold from €2.10 to €2.20/kg.
