Cannon Hall Farm: More than 150 years of farming experience

Stars of Channel 5’s On The Farm, The Nicholson family, share their journey through a typical spring at their mixed Cannon Hall Farm.

Sunday Times bestsellers and stars of Channel 5’s On The Farm, The Nicholson family, share their journey through a typical springtime at their South Yorkshire Cannon Hall Farm.

Their book Springtime at Cannon Hall Farm – which Ebury Spotlight published in March 2022 – offers a month-by-month insight into life on the farm.

Each season, Roger and Cynthia Nicholson, and their sons Richard, Robert and David, show how the arrival of baby goats, lambs, calves and piglets galore shapes their farming year.

With spring at the heart of the farming year, it is the busiest time for the family and for visitors coming to the farm to meet the new arrivals and catch up with old favourites, the llama and alpaca posse, shire horses, and the irrepressible Shetland ponies, including Ozzie Horsebourne and Jon Bon Pony.

A spokesperson for the publishing company remarked:

“The book reflects on the farm’s history, childhood stories, testing times, poignant memories and enriching experiences that have shaped the lives they lead today.”

“Featuring tales of bygone days when traditional skills, crafts, and daily practices shaped life in the countryside. And for fans of Rob and Dave’s Channel 5 shows, there are plenty of behind-the-scenes photos and secrets revealed.”

“As Yorkshire’s premier open farm attraction, Cannon Hall Farm continues to play host to thousands of visitors with spring being the busiest time of the year.”
