Man arrested and herbal cannabis worth €22,000 seized in rural village 

Cannabis seized

Revenue officers have seized over 1kg of herbal cannabis and a small quantity of ephedrine in Co. Leitrim.

Officers made the seizure in the rural village of Dromad earlier today (Thursday, May 5th, 2022), as part of an intelligence-led operation.

They estimate the seized herbal cannabis and ephedrine to be in the region of €22,000.

Revenue’s Customs Service, the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and the Roscommon/Longford Divisional Drugs Unit conducted the joint operation.

In a statement to That’s Farming, a spokesperson for Revenue said:

“An Garda Síochána arrested a man (30s) in connection with this seizure and detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drugs Trafficking) Act 1996 at Castlerea Garda Station.”

“Investigations are ongoing. This operation was part of Revenue’s ongoing joint investigations targeting organised crime groups and the importation, sale, and supply of illegal drugs.”

Man hospitalised following tractor/van crash

Meanwhile, a man has been hospitalised following a crash between a van and a tractor in Co Meath.

The road traffic collision took place in Skryne, Co. Meath, shortly after 9 am yesterday (Tuesday, May 3rd, 2022).

Confirming the news to That’s Farming, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said:

“Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a R.T.C between a van and a tractor at occurred on May 3rd, 2022, at Skryne, Co. Meath at 9.10 am.”

“A man suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Blanchardstown Hospital for treatment. Investigations are ongoing,” the spokesperson concluded.
