26 buyers were ringside under strict social distancing measures at Castleisland Mart on Monday (June 8th), according to a mart spokesperson.
They reported that the calf sale was a “roaring success”, with calves making up to €630. Stronger calves earned the higher prices and a strong buyer presence was observed.
Cows:
Good feeding type cows were in very high demand. FR cows made from €1.15- €1.54/ kg, AA/HE cows made €1.32- €1.94/ kg, while continentals cows ranged from €1.25-€2.02/ kg.

- HE – 620kg – €1125;
- FR – 470kg – €725;
- FR – 464kg – €615;
- LM – 600kg – €1150;
- LM – 740kg – €1245.
Heifers:
Continentals earned €1.74- €2.85/ kg, while AA/HE fetched from €1.65- €2.04/kg.

Bullocks:
FR went under the hammer for €1.45- €1.72/ kg and AA/HE achieved €1.45- €2.12/ kg.

Weanlings:
Weanling bulls pushed from €2.02- €3.14/kg whilst heifers sold from €2.32- €3.03/ kg.

Calves:
Friesian bull calves earned between €50- €160, while FR heifers suitable for breeding ranged from €270- €325.

AA/HE: Bulls ranged from €110- €550 and heifers made €100- €375.
