Lee Valley Regional Park have issued a plea to dog owners following a recent incident.
A horrific incident occurred on Friday, May 22nd, when a calf was attacked by a dog.
Attack
It is understood that the dog attacked the calf while it was grazing, dragged it into a nearby lake and drowned it.
The calf was owned by nearby Lee Valley Park Farm and farm manager Jason Painter was in disbelief over the incident.
“In 20 years of farming at Lee Valley, I’ve never seen anything like this. This is absolutely heartbreaking.”
Dog owners
Painter said he cannot stress enough how important it is for dog owners to be responsible for their pets at all times.
“You must keep dogs under effective control, always be mindful of other visitors and respect the outdoors. Your dog must be on a lead around farm animals. If we ask you to put your dog on a lead, it’s for a reason. I never want to see something like this again.”
