There was a large turnout of cattle at Headford Mart’s beef/store cattle show and sale on Saturday, March 7th, according to Joe Wynne.
- Bullocks ranged from €1.41-€2.63/kg or €190 to €975 over the kg – Top price over the kg – a pair of CHX – 825kg – €1800 – €2.18/kg and top price per kg – a pair of LMX – 380kg – €1000 – €2.63/kg.
- Heifers climbed from €1.52-€2.73/kg or €255-€900 over the kg – Top price over the kg – a LMX – 840kg – €1740 – €2.07/kg and top price per kg – a LMX – 830kg – €900 – €2.73/kg.
- Weanling heifers made from €2.07-€2.93/kg or €330-€530 over the kg – Top price over the kg – a LMX – 320kg – €850 – €2.66/kg and top price per kg – a LMX – 270kg – €790 – €2.93/kg.
- Weanling bulls clicked from €1.65-€2.95/kg or €162-€655 over the kg – Top price over the kg – a CHX – 435kg – €1090 – €2.51/kg and top price per kg – a CHX – 285kg – €840 – €2.95/kg.
- Cull cows went under the hammer from €500 to €1,525 for an 8-year-old LMX, weighing 770kg.
Sheep:
In-lamb ewes climbed from €100 up to €148, while cull ewes peaked at €142. Hoggets ranged from €127 up to €140 or €2.35-€2.82/kg.
