A derelict old house sitting on a 0.75-acre site has just hit the market in Bohola, Co Mayo.

Dearbhla Friel Properties is handling the sale of the listing in the west of Ireland.

She said that “the site presents the option of a new build or renovation to the existing structure and accompanying engineer floor plans for possible house options are available”.

“Moreover, there is an option to purchase additional lands to increase site area if required,” she added.

She said the property is in a “desirable” and “idyllic” rural setting, being within walking distance of Bohola National School and village.

The property is a 15-minute drive from Castlebar and a further 20-minute drive from Knock International Airport, while the surrounding popular towns of Claremorris, Ballina and Westport are a 30-minute commute distance.

2-bed stone cottage on 1ac

Meanwhile, DNG O’Dwyer is seeking €175,000 for a “modern and original” 2-bed detached stone cottage on circa 1-acre in Co Meath.

According to a selling agent for the firm, this is an original stone-built cottage in Stonefield, Ballinlough, Kells.

Its current owners have extended, maintained and restored to provide “chic modern living whilst retaining the quaint cottage feel”.

Its accommodation includes a sitting room, a back hall, a kitchen, a utility room, two bedrooms and a bathroom.

The dwelling sits on a 1.06-acre site that offers the property “extensive” gardens with mature hedging with dimensions “large enough for use as paddock”.

Some of its features include insulation, dual fuel central heating complete, with a new stove with a back boiler installed in November 2019 and a new hot water cylinder installed in 2019, a smart electricity meter, double glazing, septic tank sewerage and a private well water supply.
