Mayo serves the best beef burger in the country

A Mayo-based takeaway, located in the same town as That’s Farming’s HQ, officially serves the best burger in the country.

Blue Thunder in Claremorris clinched the coveted ‘All-Ireland Best Burger Title’ earlier this year as part of Kepak’s fifth annual National Burger Day, in support of the Simon Community.

With over 450 burger outlets to choose from, Blue Thunder in Claremorris, Co Mayo, beat off stiff competition from hundreds of contenders nationwide, including a series of fast-food joints, family owned-pubs, hotels, and speciality burger restaurants.

Joanne Byrne owns the popular burger outlet, which has been a “firm” favourite in the thriving Mayo town on the Ballyhaunis Road for over three decades.

Joanne’s parents, Pat and Marian O’Malley, originally founded the business, which “insists on serving premium high-quality 100% Irish beef, 100% Irish lamb and 100% corn-fed chicken from suppliers and farms we trust in a friendly environment”.

Joanne credited Blue Thunder’s success to its top-quality burgers, commitment to using the “highest quality” ingredients, their 15-strong staff base’s commitment and their loyal local customer trade.

Joanne Byrne, owner of the business, which first opened its doors in the 1980s and carries the tagline ‘real food, real value’ commented:

“Our selection of delicious burgers have stood the test of time, and our four-ounce deluxe cheese and bacon burger, as well as our much-loved prime burger, are firm favourites amongst our local customers and strong passing trade.”

“We are very grateful to our staff and customers for all their support,” she added.

That’s Farming’s sister company, Corrib Oil, has a series of outlets, which has joined forces with Blue Thunder Fast Foods as a franchisee to “work together to ensure the food we serve is the best in the market”.

BlueThunder Fast Foods is now open at Corrib Oil Tralee (John Joe Sheehy Road, Tralee, which is beside Austin Stack Park, Tralee) and Corrib Oil Roscommon (Racecourse Rd, Lisnacroghy).
