Blessington: Cattle to €960 over, with fat lambs back €2-€3/hd

“A very good” trade prevailed for all types of cattle at Blessington Mart on Thursday, June 30th, 2022.

That is according to a spokesperson who reported that a smaller entry of beef cattle came under the hammer at its most recent cattle sale.

Beef cows ranged from €600-€940 over the kg, while feeding cows varied from €310-€570 over the weight.

Meanwhile, in the bullock ring, continental stores made from €480-€960 over the kg, while Hereford and Angus store types changed hands from €410-€790 over and Friesian stores went under the hammer from €380-€630 over.

Meanwhile, in the heifer ring, continental stores varied from €470-€860 over the kg, while Hereford and Angus stores traded from €400-€690 over.

This week’s sheep prices

According to the spokesperson, fat lambs were back by €2-€3/head at its most recent sheep sale on Tuesday, June 28th, 2022.

The spokesperson reported that a “good selling trade” prevailed for all types on Tuesday.

Heavy ewes ranged from €170-€216/head, while lighter ewes pushed from €100-€164/head.

In the line of lambs, heavy types sold from €157-€163/head or €104-€114 over the kg, while factory types made from €140-€157 or €100-€116 over the kg and stores ranged from €100-€132 or €74-€96 over the kg.

Last week’s cattle prices

According to a spokesperson for Blessington Mart, a smaller entry went under the hammer at its cattle sale on Thursday, June 23rd, 2022 (23-06-2022).

The spokesperson noted that a “very good” trade prevailed for all classes at its most recent sale.

Continental store bullocks ranged from €540-€960 over, while Hereford and Aberdeen-Angus store bullocks varied from €420-€780 over the kg.

Meanwhile, in the heifer ring, continental stores changed hands from between €480-€850 over the weight, while Hereford and Angus-types pushed from €400-€750 over.

Lastly, in the cow ring, beef entries made from €560-€1,140 over the kg, while feeding types sold from €340-€550 over the weight.
