Blessington Mart – cattle prices – 17-02-2022
According to a spokesperson for Blessington Mart, a “very strong” trade prevailed for all classes at Thursday’s (February 17th, 2022) cattle sale.
They reported that “a lot of farmers were looking for stock” at its general weekly sale.
Blessington Mart 17-02-2022:
- Beef bullocks – €860-€1,140 over;
- Continental store bullocks – €580-€960 over;
- HE/AA store bullocks – €440-€680 over;
- Friesian store bullocks – €260-€430 over;
- Beef heifers – €690-€1,040 over;
- Continental store heifers – €480-€730 over;
- HE/AA store heifers – €380-€620 over;
- Beef cows – €360-€650 over;
- Feeding cows – €160-€350 over.
This week’s sheep prices
According to the spokesperson, store hoggets improved by €2-€4/head at the mart’s sheep sale on Tuesday, February 15th, 2022.
They reported that all classes met with a better trade than the previous week.
- Heavy hoggets – €150-€156 or €100-€104 over;
- Factory hoggets – €142-€150 or €96-€105 over;
- Store hoggets over 40kgs – €126-€142 or €84-€98 over;
- Store hoggets over 35kgs – €105-€124 or €72-€90 over;
- Heavy ewes – €150-€176/head;
- Lighter ewes – €96-€142/head;
- In-lamb ewes – €140-€220/head.

According to the spokesperson, there was a “very strong” trade for cattle at the mart on Thursday, February 10th, 2022.

- Beef bullocks – €820-€1,090 over;
- Continental store bullocks – €480-€860 over;

- Friesian store bullocks – €220-€440 over;
- Beef heifers – €660-€1,010 over;
- Continental store heifers – €560-€750 over;
- HE/AA store heifers – €400-€570 over;
- Beef cows – €380-€760 over;
- Feeding cows – €180-€350 over.

According to a spokesperson, a “very good” trade prevailed for beef and store cattle at Blessington Mart on 03-02-2022.
They said that the sale attracted “a lot” of customers, both ringside and online.
