Blessington Mart – cattle prices – 08-07-2021

According to a spokesperson, a “very strong” trade prevailed for all cattle at Blessington Mart on Thursday, July 8^th, 2021.

They reported that bullocks and heifers were in “high demand” at the mart’s weekly cattle sale.

Blessington Mart 08-07-2021:

• Continental store bullocks – €560-€890 over;
• HE/AA store bullocks – €500-€720 over;
• Friesian store bullocks – €330-€700 over;
• Continental store heifers – €420-€700 over;
• HE/AA store heifers – €400-€600 over;
• Beef cows – €370-€650 over;
• Feeding cows – €220-€370 over.

Sheep sale:

According to a spokesperson, there was an improved trade for sheep on Tuesday, July 6^th.

“A very good trade for all types of lambs and cast ewes, with fat lambs better by €2 to €4 per head on last week.”

“Lots of customers for store lambs. Top price for fat ewes €178, with top price for fat lambs €154 and Top price for store lambs €107,” the spokesperson added.

Sheep prices:

• Heavy lambs – €130-€154 or €85-€100 over;
• Factory lambs – €114-€130 or €77-€92 over;
• Store lambs over 40kgs – €100-€114 or €60-€80 over;
• Lambs over 35kgs – €88-€106 or €54-€71 over;
• Heavy ewes – €140-€178/head;
• Lighter ewes – €78-€132/head.
