Blessington Mart – cattle prices – 03-02-2022

According to a spokesperson, a “very good” trade prevailed for beef and store cattle at Blessington Mart on 03-02-2022.

They said that the sale attracted “a lot” of customers, both ringside and online.

Blessington Mart 03-02-2022:

• Beef bullocks – €840-€1,160 over;
• Continental store bullocks – €560-€960 over;
• HE/AA store bullocks – €470-€700 over;
• Friesian store bullocks – €230-€520 over;
• Beef heifers – €740-€1,040 over;
• Continental store heifers – €470-€800 over;
• HE/AA store heifers – €360-€610 over;
• Beef cows – €400-€690 over;
• Feeding cows – €180-€380 over.

This week’s sheep prices

According to the spokesperson, there was a “good trade” for all classes at Tuesday’s (February 1^st, 2022) sheep sale.

They reported that customers were active for both fat and store sheep.

• Heavy hoggets – €150-€155 or €98-€101 over;
• Factory hoggets – €138-€150 or €100-€106 over;
• Store hoggets over 40kgs – €126-€136 or €82-€96 over;
• Also, store hoggets over 35kgs+ – €106-€126 over or €78-€90 over;
• Heavy ewes – €138-€162/head:
• Lighter ewes – €88-€136/head:
• In-lamb ewes – €190 for older-types to tops of €270/head.

According to a spokesperson, there was a “very strong” trade for forward store and beef cattle at the mart on Thursday, January 27^th. 2022.

• Beef bullocks – €840-€1,160 over;
• Continental store bullocks – €660-€880 over;
• HE/AA store bullocks – €470-€680 over;
• Friesian store bullocks – €260-€520 over;
• Beef heifers – €690-€960 over;

• Continental store heifers – €480-€760 over;
• HE/AA store heifers – €400-€640 over;
• Beef cows – €400-€900 over;
• Feeding cows – €220-€380 over.

Previous week’s sheep sale

According to a spokesperson, fat and store hogget prices were up €1-€3/head at the mart’s sheep sale on Tuesday, January 25^th, 2022.

Trade for cast ewes was “similar” to the previous week.

• Heavy hoggets – €152-€156 or €96-€102 over;
• Factory hoggets – €136-€152 or €95-€104 over;
• Store hoggets over 40kgs – €115-€133 or €85-€97 over;
• Also, store hoggets over 35kgs+ – €85-€114 over or €50-€83 over;
• Heavy ewes – €140-€168/head:
• Lighter ewes – €88-€136/head.
