Beef Trade: Some plants paying 5-10c/kg above quotes

Figures from the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine’s database shows that the beef kill, for the week commencing February 3rd, stood at 36,949.

Breakdown:

  • Young bulls: 5,050;
  • Bulls: 536;
  • Steers: 12,539;
  • Cows: 7,110;
  • Heifers: 11,654.

Quotes

In terms of quotes, factories are paying a base of €3.65-€3.70/kg for steers, while heifers are ranged from €3.65-€3.75/kg.

Between €3.40-€3.65/kg is being quoted for young bulls, while cull cows are pushing from €2.90-€3.45/kg.

The IFA is reporting that some plants are paying 5-10c/kg above quotes.
