The Beef Plan Movement has confirmed that it is in contact with the Minister for Agriculture, Michael Creed TD and opposition political parties, as well as many Independent TDs, to find a solution to resolve the closure of marts.
In a statement to That’s Farming, Hugh Doyle and Eamon Corley, joint chairpersons of the organisation, said: “Beef Plan is currently examining the possibility of creating an exciting new online platform for the purchase and sale of cattle.”
“The Beef Plan Movement has access to over 20,000 farmers and has been inundated with concerned farmers who need to sell or buy cattle.”
“The model that is being considered would replicate the mart system of selling livestock across the country from your home and would also provide a secure payment system.”
This, the statement added, would ensure that farmers receive payment for their livestock as well as buyer satisfaction.
