Beef processing plants are quoting a base price of €3.40/kg for steers and heifers this week, which represents a further drop of 10c/kg from the previous week.
As reported by us last week, there is limited demand for young bulls at present, with €3.30-€3.50/kg on the table for O/R/U grades in some factories, with quotes as low as €3.00/kg.
P grade cull cows are ranging from €2.30-€2.40/kg, with €2.60/kg being quoted for Os; deals are being sealed at €2.80/kg for Rs, with an additional 5c/kg being offered by some factories.
Throughput
30,731 cattle were processed at Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine-approved beef plants during the week commencing March 30th.
