Baltinglass Mart – Cattle Prices – 26-04-2023
Prices maxed out at €250/head at Baltinglass Mart’s sheep sale on Wednesday, April 26th, 2023, writes farming journalist, Catherina Cunnane.
That is according to a spokesperson who reported that “finer weather brought many farmers to the ringside, and there were also plenty of online bidders”.
“There was an improving trade all around with highs of €250 for ewes with lambs at foot, up to €170 for spring lambs and up to €145/head for ewes.”
Ewes with lambs at foot were in “demand” with prices from €136 up to €250.

Meanwhile, Wednesday’s cattle sale saw a “very strong trade” for all sorts, with “good” demand for quality types and lighter stores.

- 2 BB – 220kg made €685;
- HE – 175kg made €450.
Bullocks:
- HE – 540kg made €1400;

- 4 HE – 220kg made €660.
