Bullocks to €2,630 and cull cows to €2,600 at Balla Mart

Balla Mart – Cattle Prices – 23-04-2022

According to Stephen Hannon, over 900 lots passed through Balla Mart’s three rings on Saturday, April 23rd, 2022.

The mart manager and general manager of Aurivo Marts reported that the sale attracted “some quality beef cattle,” which met with a “great” trade.

Bullocks sold to €2,630, heifers topped out at €2,460, cull cows fetched up to €2,600 and suckler pairs climbed to €2,040.

Speaking following Saturday’s general cattle sale, he said: “Heavy bullocks and cows were ‘wild’ according to some buyers.”

“Online factory and northern buyers pushed proceedings on. There was a smashing clearance in the bullocks with heavy bullocks remaining as pricy as ever.”

Bullock prices:

He reported that bullocks 300kg to 400kg levelled at €2.83/kg, while store bullocks 400kg to 500kg averaged €2.69/kg.

Meanwhile, heavier bullocks 500kg + reported an average price of €2.83/kg with the tops to €3.10/kg.

Top of the town at €2,630 was a Limousin bullock, weighing 840kgs, while another entry, which hit the scales at 785kgs, sold for €2,580.
