Farmer dies after being attacked by bull during TB test

A 58-year-old farmer has died after being attacked by a bull during a TB test last week, That’s Farming understands.

The incident occurred on a farm in the Penybanc area near Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire, in Wales, on Friday morning (September 23rd, 2022).

Two land ambulances, Wales Air Ambulance, a rapid response car and police officers were called to respond to the fatal accident.

A spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police – who were among those that attended the scene of the incident –  said:

“Officers attended a farm in the Penybanc area of Llandeilo on Friday morning, September 23rd, 2022, following a report that a man had been injured.”

“Sadly, a 58-year-old man passed away at the scene,” the spokesperson concluded.

No further information is available at the time of writing. That’s Farming understands that investigations continue.

RTC involving livestock in Mayo

In other news, two male drivers were hospitalised, and livestock were killed following a road traffic collision in Co Mayo.

The two-vehicle RTC occurred at Ballyagally North, Glenamoy, in the county on Sunday evening.

Confirming the news to That’s Farming, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said:

“Gardaí attended the scene of a two-vehicle road traffic collision at Ballyagally North, Glenamoy, Mayo at approximately 4:55 pm on Sunday, September 25th, 2022.”

“Two male drivers (aged in their early 30s & mid 50s) were injured during the collision. One was removed to Mayo University Hospital, and the other was airlifted to Sligo University Hospital.”

“One of the vehicles involved was transporting livestock, and a number of livestock were killed as a result of the collision. Investigations ongoing,” the spokesperson concluded.

Tipperary farm death

Meanwhile, earlier this month, we reported that a man (70s) died following a fatal workplace incident on a farm in Co Tipperary.

The incident occurred at a farm in Inch, Cappawhite, on Wednesday, August 31st, 2022.

Confirming the news to That’s Farming, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said:

“Gardaí are investigating a fatal workplace incident that occurred on a farm in Inch, Cappawhite, Co. Tipperary, at approximately 6.40 pm on Wednesday, August 31st, 2022.”

“A man, aged in his 70s, has been pronounced dead. The Health Safety Authority has been notified. Investigations are ongoing,” the spokesperson concluded.
