The DAFM will issue ANC scheme payments worth under €182m to almost 85,000 farmers this week.
Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Charlie McConalogue, made the announcement on Wednesday, September 15th, 2021.
ANC payments
He said: “I am delighted to announce that payments totalling €182 million have issued to almost 85,000 farmers in the first tranche of advance payments under the ANC scheme.”
“This is in line with previous years. I am conscious of the importance of the timely delivery of payments under the ANC scheme.”
He said the ANC scheme is “crucial” for so many farm families. McConalogue stated that these payments represent a “timely and significant financial boost” for farmers and the wider rural economy.
“The issuing of these payments in mid-September underscores my determination to maximise payments to farmers at the earliest possible time.”
“Payments will be visible in farmers’ bank accounts in the coming days.”
“The department will continue to process, as a matter of urgency, all remaining cases for payment as they meet scheme criteria.”
He said the DAFM would commence issuing 15% balancing payments in early December.
BPS 2021
The minister also confirmed that the DAFM has made arrangements to facilitate payment of the advance of 70% under the Basic Payment Scheme with effect from October 18th, 2021.
In line with previous years, the DAFM has not cleared all applications for payment under the ANC Scheme.
In particular, many farmers have yet to satisfy the annual average stocking density of 0.15 livestock units per forage hectare for the calendar year.
However, farmers have until December 31st, 2021, to do so.
It will continue regular pay runs in the coming weeks to ensure cleared cases are processed for payment as “quickly as possible”.
