A selling agent is expecting offers in the region of €600,000 for a 65-acre “state-of-the-art” carbon-neutral farm in Co Mayo.

Paul Lafferty Auctioneers is handling the sale of Cuilatinny Farm, which is in Knock, just off the N17.

He said, “rarely does a commercial farm of this nature come to the market”.

Mayo farm

The non-residential property comprises land, outbuildings, cattle handling facilities and forestry.

It consists of circa 45-acres of “top quality” grazing/silage land, with several farm buildings.

These include a 6-bay double sided slatted shed fattening unit that can house up to 70/80 adult cattle, a slatted shed that was recently re-roofed, a machinery and tractor shed and a farm office.

There is also a separate mill & feed passage along with a meal silo, a large farmyard with a crush and handling facilities, a well and a mains water connection.

Furthermore, circa 16.38-acres are under forestry, and contains 80% of Sitka Spruce and Larch planted in 2017.

According to the selling agent, the land is eligible for base payments of €2,831 with six years remaining. Besides, circa 2.86-acre of Sitka Spruce was planted in 1993.

Quinn Property will offer an 82-acre residential farm in Wicklow for sale through a hybrid auction at Carnew Mart next month.

According to the selling agent, the farm in Craffield, Aughrim is “suitable for most agricultural enterprises”.

The property firm will offer the listing for sale in the following lots:

  1. Circa 44-acres with residence;

According to David Quinn, the residence, extending to 93.5m², is a G-rated traditional two-storey, stone-built farmhouse, “in need of renovation and modernisation”.

There is a fuel shed to the rear of the property, some traditional, old stone outbuildings and a two-span shed with a lean-to.

Services include a private well, septic tank and electricity.

“The lands are south-facing, of good quality, all currently in grass. A laneway runs through the farm, giving access to most of the fields.”
