64-year-old dies after being attacked by bull

An incident involving a bull has claimed the life of a Cork farmer.

It is understood that the accident occurred yesterday (Thursday, April 2nd) when the 64-year-old man was tending to a number of bulls in his shed.

Emergency services were alerted to the scene of the incident at Tullylease near Charleville in the county, after the farmer was found unconscious by a neighbour.

The farmer was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem examination will be conducted.

No further information is available at present.

Second farm fatality

This is the second farm fatality to take place this week. A man, aged in his 50s, died in a tractor-related incident in Cavan on Wednesday (April 1st), as reported by us here.

The farmer was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Cavan General Hospital.
