Kilkenny Mart report – sheep prices – 30-08-2021
According to George Candler, a larger entry comprising some 800 lots were on offer at Kilkenny Mart’s sheep sale on Monday, August 30th, 2021.
The mart’s auctioneer reported that a larger entry of sheep met with an improved trade for “all lambs”, which resulted in a full clearance.
“Cull ewe prices were reduced compared to last week, but all were sold. Breeding hoggets peaked at €230/head. Dairy animals met a solid rather than spectacular trade.”

According to George Candler, some 750 lots were on offer at Kilkenny Mart’s sheep sale on Monday, August 23rd. 2021.
The mart’s auctioneer reported that there was a small number of butcher and factory-type lambs on offer.
Speaking following the sale, he said: “More store lambs on offer than usual.”
“A sharper trade for all lambs. Cull ewes were a shade easier, but still peaked at €189/head for 100kgs.”
“Another good-sized sale of sheep with all types of lambs in demand with the butcher and factory lambs increasing in price from last week’s returns.”
“Breeding ewe customers scarcer with a top call in this sector of €230.”
