VIDEO: ‘They all calved in 6 weeks’ – new entrant on heat detection system

Liam Delaney from outside of Portlaoise in Co Laois was a new entrant to dairying in spring 2020 installing a Lely A5 robot.

However, 12 months in advance of embracing robotics, he installed the heat detection and health monitoring collars on his heifers, that come with the Lely robot system. This was his sole form of heat detection and allowed him to use dairy AI on his group of heifers.

In this video, released by Lely Center Mullingar, Delaney outlines how this heat detection system has worked on his farm over the past two years.
