Fourth processor increases December milk price

Dairygold has, today (Tuesday, January 18th, 2022), confirmed its December 2021 milk price.

The milk processor’s announcement follows Lakeland Dairies’, Glanbia’s and Kerry Group’s.

Dairygold December 2021 milk price

In a statement to That’s Farming this afternoon, a spokesperson for the milk processor said:

“Dairygold has increased the December quoted milk price by 1.0c/L to 40.5c/L, based on standard constituents of 3.3% protein and 3.6% butterfat, inclusive of bonuses and VAT.”

“This milk price equates to an average December farm gate milk price of 50.9c/L. This is based on average December milk solids, Dairygold milk suppliers achieved.”

“The quoted milk price for December based on EU standard constituents of 3.4% protein and 4.2% butterfat is 44.2c/L.”

The spokesperson said that dairy demand “remains strong” and dairy ingredient prices have “continued to firm” in recent weeks.

The Dairygold board will continue to monitor markets closely and review milk prices monthly.

Lakeland Dairies

In the Republic of Ireland, Lakeland Dairies has increased its milk price by 0.5 cent/litre to pay 40c/L inclusive of lactose bonus and VAT, for milk at 3.6% fat and 3.3% protein.

Meanwhile, in Northern Ireland, Lakeland Dairies has increased its milk price by 0.4 p/litre to 31.9p/litre.

Glanbia

Glanbia will pay its member milk suppliers 42.0c/L (including VAT) for December 2021 creamery milk supplies at 3.6% butterfat and 3.3% protein.

The creamery price includes an unconditional late supply bonus of 2c/L (including VAT).

Furthermore, it will also pay the bonus on surplus milk from its liquid and autumn calving scheme suppliers.

Glanbia Ireland will pay a base milk price for December of 39.58c/L (including VAT) for creamery milk at 3.6% fat and 3.3% protein.

Its farmer members will also receive a 0.42c/L (including VAT) payment as their ‘share of GI profit’.

Based on LTO constituents of 4.2% butterfat and 3.4% protein, the Glanbia milk price for December creamery milk is 45.63c/L.

Kerry Group

Kerry Group’s base price for December milk supplies will increase to 39.25c/l incl VAT at 3.30% prot/3.60% butterfat and 43.06c/l incl Vat at EU Standard Constituents 3.40% Prot/4.20% butterfat.

Based on Kerry’s average milk solids for December, the milk price return inclusive of VAT and bonuses is 49.49c/L.
