VIDEO: €52,000 for Clonagh Lucky Explorer at Roscommon Mart

Clonagh Lucky Explorer set the Irish Simmental Cattle Society’s sale alight when he sold for €52,000 earlier today (Saturday, October 24th).

The May-2019-born bull, out of Manor Park Hansome and Clonagh Dora, was presented for sale by Lyndsey and Garrett Behan, Co. Laois.

It is understood that the bull, which has a replacement index of €135 and a terminal index of €114, is destined for the UK.

‘A special boy from birth’

“Ahead of the sale at Roscommon Mart, the renowned pedigree breeders described Explorer as “a special boy from birth, the best we have ever bred at Clonagh”.

The bull was tapped out as a first prize-winner at the 2019 National Livestock Show Tullamore when he was 3-months-old.

“Dam, Clonagh Dora the Explorer, twice overall Simmental of the year (2014 and 2016) and former Miss Europe (2016). Dam of national champion and premier sale champion, Clonagh Horny Tiger G. Clonagh King of the Jungle by Kilbride Farm Dragoon sold to Italian AI centre.”

Sire

His sire, Manor Park Hansome, was crowned the overall male of the year 2019. He was purchased for a top call of 22,000gns at the Stirling Bull Sales in 2017.

“Calves are like himself, excellent bone structure, correctness and natural muscle.”

“Proving to be easy-calved with ET calves born from heifers naturally. He has a tremendous back pedigree of champions with Slievenagh Extra Special and Blackford Worzel.” the breeders concluded.
