Kilrush Mart report – cattle prices – 28-04-2021

Just over 300 cattle went under the hammer at Kilrush Mart on Wednesday, April 28^th, 2021.

The spokesperson noted that whilst calf numbers are declining, trade is “holding very steady”. They reported “strong” demand for Friesian heifer calves as prices ranged from €310-€335/head.

“Aberdeen Angus calves made to €250 and Belgian Blue-cross calves made to €360. A handful of suckler cows with calves at foot met a good trade and made to €1,700.”

“Again, quite a number of young stock available today. A strong trade was achieved today in all classes and a 96% clearance achieved.”

Cattle prices at Kilrush Mart last week

A smaller entry of bullocks and calves went under the hammer at Kilrush Mart on Wednesday, April 21^st, while heifer and cull cow numbers remained stable.

“A full clearance was achieved in the cull cow ring and calf ring. Mostly Hereford-cross and Aberdeen-Angus calves with the Hereford-crosses making €120 to €245 and Aberdeen-Angus making €150 to €220 and a number of these bought for export. Quite a number of light young heifers,” the spokesperson added.
