Kilkenny Mart report – cattle prices – 25-11-2021

According to George Candler, just over 800 lots changed hands at Kilkenny Mart’s cattle sale on Thursday, November 25^th, 2021.

The mart’s auctioneer reported that a “good, firm trade all-round” resulted in a full clearance in the heifer and cull cow ring.

“The 150 cull cows on offer peaked at €2,000 for a Blonde, weighing 790kgs. Forward Friesian bullocks peaked at €2.16/kg,” the auctioneer remarked.

Bullocks: 600kgs – €1.90-€2.75/kg or €1,150-€1,910/head:

• LM – 810kgs – €1,910;
• 2 LM – 750kgs – €,1670;
• 2 CH – 630kgs – €1,470;
• 5 FR – 620kgs – €1,280;
• 2 LM – 615kgs – €1,500;
• 2 AA – 605kgs – €1,210.

Last week’s cattle prices

According to George Candler, some 700 lots went under the hammer at Kilkenny Mart on Thursday, November 18^th, 2021.

The mart’s auctioneer reported that a “good, solid” trade prevailed for quality lots at its general cattle sale.

Speaking following the sale, Candler said:

“Heifers met a sharper trade compared to last week with a 99% clearance. Bullocks also sold well, with a 96% clearance.”

“Beef bullocks and heifers were in short supply as were light continental bullocks and heifers (320-390kgs)”

“The cull cow ring lacked the quality of other weeks, with many animals just out of the parlour,” Candler added.
