Kilkenny Mart report – cattle prices – 24-06-2021

According to George Candler, a larger entry comprising over 900 lots were on offer at Kilkenny Mart on Thursday, June 24th, 2021.

The mart’s auctioneer reported that online activity accounted for 30% of all cattle sold.

Candler said: “Trade remained buoyant for all lots – especially beef and forward store-type bullocks and heifers.”

“Some plain type animals – especially Friesian bulls, were more difficult to get away.”

“The sale resulted in a 96% clearance. Cull cows saw a top call of €2050 for a Charolais, which weighed 865 kg, €2.37 per kilo,” Candler added.

Prices at last week’s cattle sale

Kilkenny Mart report – cattle prices – 17-06-2021

According to George Candler, a smaller entry of some 600 cattle, went under the hammer at Kilkenny Mart on Thursday, June 17th, 2021.

He reported that a smaller entry, comprising some 600 lots, met with an “excellent trade”, resulting in a 100% clearance.

“Trade for beef-type and forward store bullocks and heifers could best be described as electric.”

“Another buoyant trade with cattle running out before money. Beef heifers averaged €1,644 per head with forward-store types giving an average of €1,100. Beef bullocks averaged €1,630 with forward-store types in this category averaging €1,340,” he added.
