High clearance rates ‘an indication of excellent’ cattle trade at Kilkenny

According to George Candler, a smaller entry of just over 850 lots crossed the scales at Kilkenny Mart on Thursday, November 17^th, 2022.

The mart’s auctioneer reported some 210 cull cows met with a 98% clearance rate, while all heifers found new homes and 98% of bullocks changed hands.

He commented that the high clearance rates are “an indication of the excellent trade that prevailed at Thursday’s cattle sale”.

He reported that bullocks made up to €1,750/head, while heifers peaked at €1,810/head and cull cows topped out at €2.60/kg.
