‘Little or no’ change in beef and forward store prices at Kilkenny

Kilkenny Mart – Cattle Prices – 11-08-2022

According to George Candler, “quality” beef and forward store animals showed “little or no change” in price at Thursday’s (August 11^th, 2022) cattle sale at Kilkenny Mart.

The mart’s auctioneer reported that plain bullocks and heifers were “more difficult” to sell due to lack of grass and there were fewer customers for lighter types.

Some 850 cattle came under the hammer, with prices to €2,310/head in the bullock ring, heifers topped at €2,020 and cull cows peaked at €2.70/kg.

• 1^st-rate Friesian cows – €1.40-€2.40/kg;
• 2^nd-rate Friesian cows – €1.03-€1.35/kg;
• Continentals – €1.50-€2.70/kg.

Beef heifers – €2.20-€2.81/kg or €1,480-€2,020/head:

• 2 LM – 720kgs – €2,020;
• CH – 710kgs – €1,980;
• 2 FR – 670kgs – €1,550;
