Short supply of beef bullocks and heavy beef heifers at Kilkenny

Kilkenny Mart report – cattle prices – 04-11-2021

According to George Candler, some 950 lots were on offer at Kilkenny Mart on Thursday, November 4th, 2021.

The mart’s auctioneer reported that a smaller entry went under the hammer at this week’s sale.

“Plainer-types with a strong dairy influence were more difficult to get away, but quality lots sold well.”

“All cull cows met a lively trading with quality continentals breaching the €2.00/kg mark on a number of occasions.”

“Beef bullocks and heavy beef heifers were in short supply,” Candler added.

According to George Candler, some 1,150 lots were on offer at Kilkenny Mart on Thursday, October 28th, 2021.

The mart’s auctioneer reported that quality store heifers and bullocks “sold well” at its weekly general cattle sale.

“A lot of cattle, especially plain Friesian-types, are showing effects of poor weather conditions. Cull cows also reduced in prices, especially those just out of the parlour,” he added.
