Kilkenny Mart – cattle prices – 02-12-2021

According to George Candler, a larger entry comprising just under 800 lots passed through the rings at Kilkenny Mart on December 2^nd, 2021.

The mart’s auctioneer reported that just over 170 culls came under the hammer.

“A lot of poor quality cows, lacking flesh, were on offer. Thin Friesian cows ranged from 0.70 to €1.30 per kilo, but those Friesian cows with power and flesh ranged between €1.40 to €1.95 per kilo.”

“The bullock yard saw beef and quality lots in short supply; these peaked at €2.55/kg. The bullock ring saw a poorer quality animal being offered for sale compared to last week.”
