Prices from €10/hd at Kanturk with almost 1,400 lots on offer

Kanturk Mart – Cattle Prices – 29-03-2022

According to a spokesperson for Kanturk Mart, the yard was “bursting at the seams” with almost 1,400 cattle, including 600 calves, on offer at its most recent sale on Tuesday, March 29th, 2022.

The spokesperson noted that prices “held steady” with “plenty” of online and ringside competition for all types.

They noted that export-type Friesian calves fetched from €10 – €45, while stronger Friesian bull calves made up to €130.

On the other hand, Angus, and Hereford calves, both heifers and bulls, changed hands from €190 – €340.

Last week’s cattle sale

According to a spokesperson for Kanturk Mart, some 1,430 lots, including 630 calves, came under the hammer at its most recent sale on Tuesday, March 22nd, 2022.

They noted that dry cows met with a “strong” trade, while heifers and bullocks also “held very well”, although Friesian-types in both rings witnessed a “slight drop in prices”.

Export-type calves varied in price from €10 to €40, while stronger calves peaked at €125.

Meanwhile, Aberdeen-Angus and Hereford calves fetched from €190 to €300, while continentals changed hands from €195 to €345.

The spokesperson explained that bullocks topped out at €2,140, while cull cows realised €2,040 and heifers climbed to €2,200.
