‘Top prices’ of up to €1,620 for ‘top quality’ cattle at Kanturk

Kanturk Mart – Cattle Prices – 18-10-2022

According to Michelle Hallihan, some 660 crossed the scales at Kanturk Mart’s most recent cattle sale on Tuesday, October 18^th, 2022.

She reported that there “was a lively buzz around Kanturk Mart with a full clearance recorded.

“Top prices were paid for top quality cattle coming off grass. Weanlings were also a very good trade in ring 2 with a top price of €2.71/kg,” she added.

Bullock prices:

• HEX – 600kg – €1450;
• 8 AAX – 538kg – €1270;
• AAX – 530kg – €1190;
• 6 HEX – 470kg – €1040;
• LMX – 440kg – €1100;
• 6 HEX – 390kg – €890;
• 7 AAX – 390kg – €890.

Cull cow prices:

• CHX – 735kg – €1620;
• FR – 720kg – €1560;
• AA – 675kg – €1320;
• FR – 665kg – €1240;
• FR – 480kg – €1180.

Weanling prices:

• 4 CHX bulls – 173kg – €470;
• 1 HEX bull – 190kg – €530;
• 4 AAX bulls – 364kg – €900;
• 3 AAX heifers – 210kg – €535;
• 2 HEX heifers – 223kg – €505;
• 3 AAX heifers – 200kg – €450.

Heifer prices:

• HEX – 545kg – €1230;
• AAX – 500kg – €1130;
• 2 HEX – 540kg – €1230;
• 2 AA – 490kg – €1150;
• CHX – 480kg -€1090;
• 2 HEX – 490kg – €1090;
• AAX – 450kg – €1010.

Last week’s cattle prices

According to Michael Scanlon, Kanturk Mart saw a “fine turnout of top-quality cattle at its sale on Tuesday, October 11^th, 2022.

He reported that some 645 animals, including 120 cull cows and 135 weanlings, crossed the scales.

He outlined that cull cows made up to almost €1,200 over the weight, while bullocks fetched up to €1,250 over the kg.
