Headford Mart – Cattle Prices – 28-01-2023
“Prices were through the roof in Headford Mart on Saturday, compared with last year in the cattle yard,” according to a spokesperson for the mart.
They reported that at its most recent general sale, “dry cows played a blinder for the sellers with complete sellout”, with prices in this category as follows –
- LMX – 645KG – €1940/€3.01/KG;
- BBX – 800KG – €2170/€2.71/KG;
- AAX – 670KG – €1610/€2.40/KG.
Bullocks:
- LMX – 465KG – €1520/€3.37/KG;
- CHX – 365KG – €1100/€3.01/KG;
- SIX – 423KG – €1000/€2.36/KG;
- LMX – 675KG – €2250/€3.33/KG;
- AAX – 660KG – €1960/€2.97/KG.
Aged Heifers:
- CHX – 425KG – €1440/€3.19/KG;
- AAX – 470KG – €1300/€2.77/KG;
- BBX – 400KG – €1150/€2.88/KG;
- LMX – 565KG – €1850/€3.27/KG;
- LMX – 740KG – €2400/€3.24/KG.
In-calf cows sold to €1,760 with prices as follows:
- CHX – 695KG – €1760/€2.53/KG;
- LMX – 640KG – €1700/€2.66/KG;
- LMX – 725KG – €2420/€3.34/KG.
Weanling prices:
According to the spokesperson, weanling numbers were small with prices up to €3.22/KG for heifers and €3.05/KG for bulls.
Sheep prices
Nationwide, the spokesperson added, sheep prices are “back again” and this impacted the number on offer.
Prices topped €2.76/kg with an average of €2.28/KG.

- 12 39KG – €105/€2.69/KG;
- 3 80KG – €110/€1.38/KG.
