Hoggets sell to €188/head at Headford

Headford Mart – cattle and sheep prices – 27-03-2021

A large entry went under the hammer at Headford Mart on Saturday, March 27th, according to a spokesperson.

  • Bullocks ranged from €1.62 to €3.32 per kg or €240 to €1000 over the kg. Top price over the kg – a CHX – 820kg – €1820 – €2.22/kg (lot 6H). Top price per kg – a CHX – 340kg – €1130 – €3.32/kg (lot 9X).
  • Storeheifers climbed from €1.88 to €2.91 per kg or €265 to €995 over the kg. Top price over kg – a CHX – 605kg 0 €1600 – €2.64/kg (lot 28T). Top price per kg – a CHX – 350kg – €1020 – €2.91/kg (lot 39E).
  • Weanling heifers went under the hammer from €1.68 to €3.45 per kg or €255 to €660 over the kg. Top price over the kg – a CHX – 400kg – €1060 – €2.65/kg (lot 42H). Top price per kg – a CHX – 170kg – €560 – €3.29/kg (lot 48R).
  • Weanling bulls clicked from €1.67 to €3.29 per kg or €120 to €750 over the kg. Top price over the kg – a SIX – 360kg – €1110 – €3.08/kg. (Lot 45D). Top price per kg – a CHX – 170kg – €560 – €3.29/kg (lot 48R).
  • Cull cows pushed from €520 to €1500 for a 4-year-old LM, 745kg.
  • Cow and calf pairings fetched €1,660 and in calf-cows peaked at €1,660.
Headford Mart – cattle and sheep prices – 20-03-2021
  • Bullocks ranged from €1.34 to €3.30 per kg or €180 to €1040 over the kg;
  • Heifers sold from €1.69 to €3.02 per kg or €230 to €955 over the kg;
  • Weanling heifers fetched from €2.04 to €3.13 per kg or €380 to €615 over the kg;
  • Weanling bulls ranged from €1.80 to €2.81 per kg or €275 to €690 over the kg;
  • Cull cows went under the hammer from €880 to €1670;
  • Cow and calf pairings realised €1,920 and in-calf cows ranged from €820 to €1,600.
Sheep:

The spokesperson reported a “good turnout” for its sheep show and sale.

  • Ewes with lambs at foot ranged from €160 to €238 for 2nd crop ewes with couples at foot.
  • Culls/breeders ranged from €58 to €154.
  • Hoggets/spring lambs ranged from €116 to €188 or €2.62 to €4.10 per kg.
  • 67kg – €188 – €2.81 – 1st prize hoggets;
  • 42kg – €177 – €4.10;
  • 44kg – €180 – €4.09;
  • 42kg – €170 – €4.05 – 2nd prize spring lambs ;
  • 47kg – €184 – €3.91 – 1st prize spring lambs;
  • 56kg – €160 – €2.80 – 2nd prize hoggets;
  • 50kg – €170 – €3.40.

Sheep prices 20-03-2021:

Large entry of ewes with lambs at foot with prices ranging from €178 to €280 for second-crop ewes with couples at foot.

Hoggets ranged from €126 to €182 or €2.83 to €3.43 per kg.
  • 60kg – €182 – €3.03/kg;
  • 46kg – €158 – €3.43/kg;
  • 51kg – €160 – €3.14/kg;
  • 42kg – €130 – €3.10/kg;
  • 50kg – €150 – €3.00/kg;
  • 46kg – €138 – €3.00/kg.
