Headford Mart report – cattle and sheep prices – 17-04-2021

According to a spokesperson, over 550 cattle went under the hammer at Headford Mart on Saturday, April 17^th, 2021.

They reported that “leading buyers [were active] online, with good activity from local, midland and northern buyers”.

• Bullocks ranged from €1.49 to €3.67 per kg or €220 to €1015 over the kg. Top price over the kg – CHX – 775kg – €1790 – €2.31/kg (lot 12). Top price per kg – a CHX – 240kg – €880 – €3.67/kg (lot 23C).
• Heifers climbed from €1.70 to €3.07 per kg or €140 to €925 over the kg. Top price over kg – a LMX – 515kg – €1440 – €2.80/kg (lot 31B). Top price per kg – an AAX pair – 215kg – €660 – €3.07/kg (lot 38E).
• Weanling heifers pushed from €1.97 to €2.94 per kg or €260 to €720 over the kg. Top price over the kg – LMX pair – 400kg – €1120 – €2.80/kg (lot 42E). Top price per kg – a CHX – CHX – 245kg – €720, €2.94/kg (lot 41E).
• Weanling bulls went under the hammer from €1.60 to €3.90 per kg or €285 to €770 over the kg. Top price over the kg – a CHX – 330kg – €1100 – €3.33/kg. (Lot 52B). Top price per kg – a LMX – 200kg – €780 – €3.90/kg (lot 54J).
• Cull cows from €1.25/kg to €2.38/kg or €660 to €1760 for a 9-year-old SIX, 885kg;
• Cow and calf pairings fetched €1,490 for an 8-year-old LMX cow with March-2021 LMX, heifer calf.

Sheep:

• Ewes with lambs at foot ranged from €125 to €292 for 1^st crop ewes with couples at foot;
• Culls/breedersranged from €60 to €168.

Hoggets/spring lambs ranged from €120 to €180 or €2.66 to €3.86 per kg.

• 58kg – €180 – €3.10/kg;
• 44kg – €170 – €3.86/kg;
• 42kg – €155 – €3.69/kg;
• 44kg – €162 – €3.68/kg;
• 42kg – €154 – €3.67/kg;
• 5kg, €170 – €3.66/kg;
• 47kg, €168 – €3.57/kg;

Another large entry went under the hammer at Headford Mart on Saturday, April 10th (10-04-2021), according to a spokesperson.

• Bullocks ranged from €1.68 to €3.33 per kg or €235 to €970 over the kg;
• Heifers went under the hammer from €1.71 to €2.79 per kg or €278 to €840 over the kg;
• Weanling heifers pushed from €1.85 to €3.54 per kg or €198 to €790 over;
• Weanling bulls sold from €1.93 to €3.53 per kg or €315 to €685 over;
• Cull cows went under the hammer from €1.35/kg to €2.22/kg or €750 to €1570;
• Cow and calf pairings realised €1,870 for a 3-year-old LMX with a February-2021-born heifer calf.

Sheep:

• Ewes with lambs at foot changed hands from €240 to €302 for 2nd crop ewes with couples at foot;
• Culls/breeders sold from €70 to €162;
• Hoggets/spring lambs ranged from €80 to €180 or €2.29 to €4.29 per kg.
