Headford Mart report – cattle prices – 01-05-2021

According to a spokesperson, “another large entry” of cattle was on offer at Headford Mart on Saturday, May 1^st, 2021.

• Bullocks ranged from €1.53 to €3.47 per kg or €210 to €1045 over the kg. Top price over the kg – a CHX – 795kg – €1840 – €2.31/kg (lot 4). Top price per kg – a pair of LM – 262kg – €910 – €3.47/kg (lot 7C).
• Heifers climbed from €1.62 to €3.10 per kg or €290 to €885 over the kg. Top price over kg – a LMX – 755kg – €1640 – €2.17/kg (lot 34). Top price per kg – a SI – 290kg – €900 – €3.10/kg (lot 39E).
• Weanling heifers went under the hammer from €1.87 to €3.12 per kg or €265 to €765 over the kg. Top price over the kg – a LM – 395kg – €1160 – €2.94/kg (lot 46A). Top price per kg – a pair of LMX – 308kg – €960 – €3.12/kg (lot 46B).
• Weanling bulls clicked from €1.73 to €3.27 per kg or €225 to €718 over the kg. Top price over the kg – a pair of LMX – 452kg, €1170, €2.59/kg. (Lot 54). Top price per kg – a LMX – 245kg – €800 – €3.27/kg (lot 49H).
• Cull cows went under the hammer from €730 to €1670 for a 4-year-old LMX, weighing 800kg;
• Cow and calf pairings fetched €1880 for a 5-year-old LMX cow with a March-2021 LMX heifer calf.

Sheep:

• Ewes with lambs at foot ranged from €144 to €290 for third-crop ewes with couples at foot;
• Culls/breeders changed hands from €46 to €96.
• Hoggets/spring lambs ranged from €136 to €178 or €2.05 to €3.58 per kg.

  • 43kg – €153 – €3.56/kg;
  • 41kg – €144 – €3.51/kg;
  • 46kg – €160 – €3.48/kg;

• Weanling bulls varied from €1.49 to €3.17 per kg or €182 to €690 over;
• Cull cows sold from €1.05/kg to €2.29/kg or €600 to €1760 for an 11-year-old AA, 800kg;
• Cow and calf pairings fetched up to €1,660 for a 5-year-old AAX cow with a Feb-2021 AAX heifer calf.

Sheep:

• Ewes with lambs at foot ranged from €196 to €236 for first-crop ewes with singles at foot;
• Culls/breeders ranged from €60 to €160.
• Hoggets/spring lambs ranged from €120 to €182 or €2.83 to €3.83 per kg.
