Pics and prices: €3,400 supreme champion tops Kanturk’s fatstock sale

Kanturk Mart – Cattle Prices – 29-11-2022

According to Michael Scanlon, a “very big” entry of “top-quality” cattle met with an “outstanding” trade at Kanturk Mart’s annual fatstock show and sale on Tuesday, November 29^th, 2022.

He explained that prices reached €3,400, with results for classes as follows:

• Supreme Champion BB – 2-years-old – owned by Denis O’Connor, Kilbrin – weighed 790kgs – €3400 – 4.30 per kg; (main image)
• Reserve Champion: Owned by Denis O’Connor – LM – 2yrs – weighed 790kgs – €3200 – 4.05 per kgs;

• Best Butcher Heifer: Owen by Kieran Noonan – weighed 560 kgs – 3.29 per kg – €1840;
• 
• Best Beef Bullock: Owned by Mervyn Busteed – weighed 780kgs – 3.84 per kgs – €3000;

• Best Beef Cow: Owned by Patrick Looney – weighed 1005 kgs – 3.58 per kg – €3600;

• Best Friesian Cow: Owned by Con P. O’Connor – weighed 750kgs – 2.53 per kg – €1900;

• Best Pen of Cattle: Owned by Matt Bluitt – weighed 681kgs – 3.74 per kg – €2550;

• Best Pen of AA Bullock: Owned by Con P.O’Connor – weighed 650kgs – 2.89 per kg – €1800;

• Best pen of HE Bullocks: Owned by Jerry Lehane – weighed 690 kgs – 2.72 per kg – €1880;

• Best pen of AA Heifers: Owned by Jeremiah Twomey – weighed 485kgs – 2.57kgs – €1250;

• Best pen of HE Heifers: Owned by Liam Kelly – weighed 661kgs – 2.67 per kg – €1770.

Show cattle prices: 

• 3 – LM – 680 kgs – €2550;
• 1 – LM – 760 kgs – €2320;
• 1 – AA – 560 kgs – €1840;
• 4 – SI – 620 kgs – €1950.

Cull cow prices:
