Ennis Mart report – cattle prices – 11-05-2021

According to a spokesperson, just over 600 entries, including some 170 calves, went under the hammer at Ennis Mart on Tuesday, May 11^th, 2021.

The spokesperson reported that calves “held a great trade” with a top call of €580 for a Belgian Blue heifer.

“Small numbers of Friesian bull calves and these made €85 to €145.  Quite a few Hereford-cross calves and these made €145 to €380.”

“Aberdeen-Angus-cross calves made €125 to €240. Good Continental calves making €230 to €580. Suckler pairings made to €2,500. Overall weanlings similar trade to last week but quality more variable in both rings,” the spokesperson added.

The Keane family sold a 500kgs Aberdeen-Angus bull for €1,600 in aid of hospice.

Ennis Mart report – cattle prices – 04-05-2021

According to a spokesperson, some 750 lots were on offer at Ennis Mart on Tuesday, May 4^th, 2021.

They noted that trade improved in the heifer ring and bulls were “marginally better”.

“Some very fancy prices yet again for the quality heifers with the right markings. A lovely Limousin-cross type heifer of 355kgs made €1,950.”

“Again, quite a large number of autumn-born weanlings.  Some dairy stock available and made to €1,630. Pairs in the suckler ring made to €2,500.”

They reported that calves met a “strong trade yet again” with a Charolais bull topping out at €680 and a Limousin bull selling to €645.

A small selection of Friesian bull calves peaked at €235, while Aberdeen Angus calves ranged from €130 to €270. Meanwhile, Hereford-cross calves went under the hammer from €150 to €375.
