Report: Prices from €10 to €3,000 at Ennis Mart

Ennis Mart – Cattle Prices – 11-04-2023

According to a spokesperson for Ennis Mart, just under 880 lots changed hands at its most recent general cattle sale on Tuesday, April 11^th, 2023.

At Tuesday’s sale, prices soared to €3,000, a sum which was recorded for a 2017-born BBX cow and a 2-month-old LMX calf, while dairy stock sold to €2,230.

The spokesperson noted that calf numbers were similar to last week, and again, “good” farmer demand prevailed for “good, strong” calves.

Friesian calves sold from €10 to €180, depending on strength, while Hereford-cross calves pushed from €90 to €385 and Aberdeen Angus-cross calves made from €10 to €385.

Continental calves pushed to €460, but generally, between €220 to €375 was recorded for these types.

The spokesperson added: “Tuesday’s sale attracted quite a number of autumn-born weanlings, and generally, quite a bit of feeding has gone into the bulls and heifers.”

“Again, some very fancy prices in the weanlings with no let up in demand,” the spokesperson concluded.
