Prices from €5 to €2,760 at Ennis Mart

Ennis Mart – Cattle Prices – 10-05-2022

According to a spokesperson for Ennis Mart, just under 850 lots passed through the ring at its most recent cattle sale on Tuesday, May 10^th, 2022.

They reported that a larger entry of calves went under the hammer, with prices from €5/head upwards.

Friesians sold for up to €235/head, while Aberdeen-Angus-cross calves ranged from €90-€325/head and Hereford-cross calves pushed from €120-350/head. Continental-type calves topped this category at €500 and cows with calves at foot made to €2,760.

Meanwhile, the sale attracted “strong numbers” of autumn-born weanlings with a “very strong” trade in both rings.

The spokesperson noted that “shippers and farmers very active in the bull ring and €3.00/kg to €3.70/kg was very common in this ring”.

“Many lots of heifers making €3.00/kg to €3.60/kg for the quality lots. Quite a few of the better heifers bought for export also,” the spokesperson added.
