Ennis Mart report – 09-03-2021
Over 1,000 entries, including 225 calves, passed through the ring at Ennis Mart on Tuesday, March 9th, according to a spokesperson.
They reported that Friesian bulls made from €60 to €130, while light calves ranged from €30 to €50 “despite no shippers available”.
A Limousin bull calf hit €650, and many continentals hit €400 and over. Furthermore, Angus calves reached a high of €315 and Herefords went under the hammer from €280 to €365.
Suckler pairings hit a high of €2,580 for a 2016-born Limousin cow and Charolais bull calf at foot; in-calf lots realised €1,870.
“Trade was very strong in all categories with a 99% clearance in the calf ring and a 95% clearance in other classes of stock.”

Ennis Mart report – 02-03-2021
Almost 800 lots were on offer at Ennis Mart on Tuesday, March 2ndv, according to a spokesperson.
In-calf suckler stock climbed to €1,910 today, whole pairs topped out at €1,800.
“The weanlings were a strong trade all round and heifers were especially strong. Calf numbers were a bit smaller than expected but great trade all round for these.” the spokesperson commented.
“It is definitely encouraging to see calves well presented with a good deal of strength in them and this is helping to produce a very good trade.”
Quality Friesian bull calves went under the hammer from €80 to €135, while lighter lots ranged from €30 to €70. A one-month-old Belgian Blue calf received a top call of €495.
Meanwhile, Aberdeen Angus bulls made to €310, while the spokesperson described trade for Hereford calves as “similar”.
